7 Best Unlimited Cashback Credit Cards for Singapore

Updated:

Regular cashback cards are great, but they come with their own set of conditions.

Having to make sure we meet the minimum spend AND still stay under the cashback cap for whatever spending category is yet another task occupying precious mindspace. It’s hard enough staying on top of things as it is, right?

Worse still, if we have an unavoidable big expense – like furnishing a new home – we may get a paltry 0.3% cashback after we exceed those cashback caps.

Enter unlimited cashback cards. With them, you no longer have to think about tracking your purchases per category. Spend as you will and be assured that you’re getting the same base rebate for all your purchases.

1. American Express True Cashback Card

PROMO: Receive S$150 Upsized Cash via PayNow plus additional $S50 Cash via PayNow + 1x chance to win a pair of Round Trip Business Class tickets to Tokyo (worth S$13,144)

American Express True Cashback Card

Lower-than-average annual fees and two free supplementary cards make the AMEX True Cashback Card an attractive offer. It may be worthwhile for families that see high spending on typically excluded categories.

PROMO: Receive S$150 Upsized Cash via PayNow plus additional $S50 Cash via PayNow + 1x chance to win a pair of Round Trip Business Class tickets to Tokyo (worth S$13,144)

First off, this card offers a welcome bonus of 3% cashback on up to S$5,000 spend in the first 6 months. That’s an extra S$75 in cashback, assuming you charge that much to the card in half a year.

There’s no cap as to how much 1.5% cashback you can earn thereafter, and AMEX doesn’t disqualify expenses that most other card providers would – like insurance premiums and hospital bill payments, for example. In fact, ineligible transactions are few and far between, including only categories like instalment plans and bank fees (okay, fair enough).

Not so good: After the welcome bonus runs out, the 1.5% cashback rate isn’t the best you’ll find in the market.

Annual fee: S$172.80 with fee waiver for first year

Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income

Current promotion: Receive S$150 Upsized Cash via PayNow plus additional $S50 Cash via PayNow with a minimum spend of S$500 within the first month of card approval + 1x chance to win a pair of Round Trip Business Class tickets to Tokyo (worth S$13,144). (Valid until 31 March 2024) Click to apply.

2. CIMB Visa Infinite Card

PROMO: Receive an AirPods Pro (worth S$365.70) or +PLUS Chelsea Check-In 22″ Luggage (worth S$449) or S$280 cash via PayNow

CIMB Visa Infinite Card

The CIMB Visa Infinite does have its merits as a no-fee credit card, but it needs a few more travel or luxury perks to entice its target demographic.

“Wait, I thought unlimited cashback cards didn’t have minimum spend?”

Partially true – with the CIMB Visa Infinite, you’ll earn unlimited 1% cashback from the very first dollar. But if you spend S$2,000 in a month, you’ll qualify for unlimited 2% cashback on travel, overseas spending, and foreign currency transactions.

Essentially, this card is designed for high earners who frequently travel and/or spend in foreign currencies (whether locally or abroad).

It also packs quite a few travel perks, such as complimentary global lounge access and discounts at airport dining outlets, limo transfers, and Meet & Greet services.

Not so good: High annual income requirement with a monthly minimum spend of S$2,000 to qualify for the 2% cashback rate.

Annual fee: Free!

Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$120,000 in annual income or a fixed deposit collateral of S$50,000

Current promotion: Receive an AirPods Pro (worth S$365.70) or +PLUS Chelsea Check-In 22″ Luggage (worth S$449) or S$280 cash via PayNow with a minimum spend of S$988 on eligible goods and services within 60-day period following card approval. (Valid until 31 March 2024) Click to apply.

3. CIMB World Mastercard

PROMO: Receive an AirPods Pro (worth S$365.70) or +PLUS Chelsea Check-In 22″ Luggage (worth S$449) or S$280 cash via PayNow

CIMB World Mastercard

If you occasionally splurge on luxury items, this no-annual-fee card is one you may want to keep around. Otherwise, we think this card has a confused design at best: it tries to appeal to those who spend on luxury goods and fine dining, but it offers limited benefits beyond the 2% cashback.

Like the CIMB Visa Infinite, the CIMB World Mastercard has a minimum spend if you want to qualify for maximum cashback. There are two tiers of note:

  1. With a minimum monthly spend of S$1,000, you’ll get unlimited 2% cashback on dining, food delivery, movies, digital entertainment, taxis and automobiles (including ride-hailing apps), and luxury goods.
  2. If you spend less than S$1,000 but more than S$500, you’ll get unlimited 1% cashback on eligible categories plus all other spend.

That’s a fairly good deal considering there are no annual fees and you’ll get unlimited cashback for everyday expenses.

Transactions like prepaid card top-ups, insurance premiums, taxes, and utilities are excluded from eligible transactions.

Not so good: Requires a minimum monthly spend of S$500 to unlock unlimited cashback, making this card not as fuss-free as one would hope from an unlimited cashback card.

Annual fee: Free!

Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income or a fixed deposit collateral of S$10,000

UOB Absolute Cashback Card

UOB touts its Absolute Cashback Card as having the best unlimited cashback rate, and it’s upheld that reputation so far. With almost no spending exclusions, this is a must-have card for insurance premiums, GrabPay top-ups, healthcare bills, and more.

At a 1.7% base rate for unlimited cashback, this card offers the highest rebate in Singapore – with no minimum spend and no spending exclusions! Like the AMEX True Cashback Card, everything from insurance to e-wallet top-ups can qualify as eligible transactions.  A pretty good deal that many cards don’t offer.

Not so good: Higher fees than the AMEX True Cashback Card. Also, it’s an American Express card, which isn’t as widely accepted as Mastercard or Visa.

Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year

Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income

Current promotion: First 200 new-to-UOB credit card customers receive S$350 cash credit + Receive an Apple iPad 10th Gen 10.9 wifi 64GB (worth S$691.60) or Dyson Airwrap (worth S$859) or S$350 Vouchers when you are one of the first 200 applicants and make a min. spend of S$1,000 per month for 2 consecutive months from card approval date. 5. Citi Cash Back+ Card

Citi Cash Back+ Card

The Citi Cash Back+ Card sits in the middle of the pack with its unlimited cashback rate and exclusions. Combined with its excellent welcome promotions, this is a card worth considering if you’re new to Citibank.

To top off their Citi Cash Back Card offer, the Citi Cash Back+ card has no cap nor minimum spend requirement for the 1.6% cashback you can earn per month. Compared with the CIMB cards, this makes it a lot more straightforward to earn cashback.

Not so good: Bill payments, insurance, transit-related transactions, and top-ups don’t qualify for unlimited 1.6% cashback, though you can still earn on certain disqualified transactions with Citi PayAll.

Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year

Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income

Current promotion: Receive a Dyson Supersonic (worth S$699) or Apple iPad 9th Gen 10.2 Wifi 64GB (worth S$508.30) or Dyson V8 Slim Fluffy (worth S$509) or S$400 eCapitaVoucher or S$300 cash via PayNow with a minimum spend of S$500 within 30 days of card approval (Valid until 31 March 2024) Click to apply.

6. Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature Card

PROMO: Receive a pair of American Tourister Linex 66/24 Luggage TSA, or an AirPods (3rd generation) with Lightning Charging Case, or S$200 cashback

Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature Card

The Maybank FC Barcelona Card checks a number of important boxes: low annual fees, chance of automatic fee waiver, and decent cashback rate. Just be sure to only charge local expenses to this card, as you won’t get much for any foreign transactions.

PROMO: Receive a pair of American Tourister Linex 66/24 Luggage TSA, or an AirPods (3rd generation) with Lightning Charging Case, or S$200 cashback

The unique perk of this card is that it offers you a chance to win a trip for two to catch FC Barcelona live every season. But even if you’re not a football fan, you can still apply for this card for its 1.6% unlimited cashback for all Singapore spend.

Foreign currency transactions don’t qualify for the unlimited cashback, but you’ll earn Maybank TREATS points on those.

While comparable to the Citi Cash Back+ Card in its cashback rate and exclusions, this card still has an upper hand with its lower annual fee and automatic fee waiver upon meeting the minimum annual spending.

Not so good: Unlimited cashback strictly limited to Singapore-based expenses.

Annual fee: S$128.40 with fee waiver for first two years. Automatic fee waiver with a total minimum spend of S$10,000 per year

Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income

Current promotion: Receive a pair of American Tourister Linex 66/24 Luggage TSA, or an AirPods (3rd generation) with Lightning Charging Case, or S$200 cashback when you spend a minimum of S$600 for each of the first two consecutive months upon card approval. Click to apply.

Standard Chartered Simply Cash Card

Consumers planning for major life-changing events (e.g. home renovations, marriage) may want to consider this card. Otherwise, there are other unlimited cashback cards offering better rates with fewer exclusions.

There are two things this card has got going for it:

  1. It’s a Mastercard, which is preferable over American Express.
  2. It beats the AMEX True Cashback Card by offering an extra year on its annual fee waiver.

There’s also the potential to earn 3% cashback if you pair this card with the Standard Chartered Unlimited$aver, although you’ll need at least a balance of S$100,000 for the bonus cashback.

Cardholders can also earn cashback from payments for education, taxes, insurance, and rental with SC EasyBill – categories typically excluded with other card providers. A word of caution though: you might pay up to 1.9% in non-refundable processing fees for this service, so be sure it’s worth it! (You can check on the actual fees before you submit the transaction via SC’s EasyBill portal.)

Not so good: 1.5% for unlimited cashback is the lowest on this list.

Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first two years

Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income

Current promotion: Receive a Dyson SuperSonic (worth S$699) or Nintendo Switch OLED (worth S$549) or Apple iPad 9th Gen 10.2 Wifi 64GB (worth S$508.30) or S$330 and get up to S$90 e-capitaland voucher when you spend a minimum of S$500 within 30 days of card approval. (Valid until 31 March 2024) Click to apply.

Which Unlimited Cashback Card Is Best?

This depends on what you’re using it for.

For example, the CIMB Visa Infinite Card is great if you’re going on a big trip next month, but it’s not great if you’re homebound for the next few months.

On the other hand, the UOB Absolute Cashback Card is a popular pick for its stable, high unlimited cashback rate – unlike other cards that usually only have higher unlimited cashback rates for a promo period.

Note though that if you’re looking to maximise cashback, unlimited cashback cards are useful only above about S$6,000 in spending – or if you can’t meet the minimum spend requirements for regular cashback cards. Otherwise, it’s better to go with a cashback card that fits your spending profile.
